The Parish Council has the following vacancy:
PARISH CARETAKER / MAINTENANCE PERSON
£12.01 per hour + benefits incl 23 days Holiday plus Bank Holidays, Pension Scheme (NJC Spinal point 4)
Approx. 37 hours per week
(It is anticipated that you will work fewer hours during the winter months and more over the spring/summer period)
We are looking for a Parish Caretaker/Maintenance Person to help to ensure the council’s assets and amenities are well maintained and presented.
This is a newly created, interesting and varied position and will require a large degree of flexibility as it is not your ordinary 9.00-5.00 Monday to Friday job – late evening and weekend work is inevitable!
Your primary tasks will be :
- General maintenance & caretaking duties
- Cover for late locks/holidays for the Hall Caretaker
PARISH COUNCIL ASSETS
- General inspections and safety checks
- Maintenance and repairs of Parish Council assets throughout the village
- Grass cutting and grounds maintenance
- Responsibility for the village paddling pool during the summer
Experience of working in a grounds and building maintenance and/or a caretaking role would be ideal.
You must be physically fit with good DIY skills and the ability to perform your duties competently.
A full driving license is necessary, along with access to a vehicle or suitable transport to be able to get to the village hall as and when required, sometimes at short notice.
The successful applicant will ideally live in the village or surrounding area.
Excellent communication skills are necessary as you will be dealing with members of the public.
