Village Hall

The village hall is used by a wide variety of organisations and groups from within the village and further afield. Its condition and facilities are not currently of the highest standard and the parish council has commenced a renovation project with the objective of turning the hall into one of the finest amenities of its kind in the area.

Recreation

The King George V playing field in the centre of the village is held by the parish council on a long lease, together with the changing rooms that adjoin The Conservatory. Maintenance, including grass cutting, repairs and improvements to the field and its facilities are the responsibility of the parish council, except where additional facilities have been provided by sports clubs themselves.

Clubs based at the King George V field include:

  • Papworth Football Club
  • Papworth Blasters (colts football)
  • Papworth Bowls Club
  • Papworth Tennis Club

Children’s play area

Papworth Everard has been renowned for its well-equipped children’s play area and paddling pool since the 1950s. In 2010, the parish council redeveloped the play area and modernised the main equipment, assisted by a grant from a scheme administered by Cambridgeshire County Council.

The paddling pool is open throughout the school summer holidays and sometimes for a few weeks afterwards, depending on the weather. Maintaining and monitoring the pool is an important task for which the council offers remuneration on a part-time basis. The position is sometimes vacant as the new season approaches and is open to job share. Please check the News page on this website for details of any vacancies.

Allotments

The allotments are located behind the Sterling Way Business Park and are run by the Papworth Everard Allotments Association.

Papworth Everard Youth Club

As at January 2014, with the village hall renovation project imminent the Parish council has no venue in which the youth club can meet, therefore it has been suspended until a venue can be found. Updates will be made available on this page.

The youth club caters for young people aged 11-18 years (school year 7 and upwards). It meets every Friday in the village hall between 6.30pm and 8.30pm and membership is £1.00 per meeting.

New members are always welcome and can join at any time by attending the club on a Friday and completing the relevent membership form.

Cemetery

Papworth Everard Parish Council is responsible for the maintenance of the churchyard and cemetery and administers the allocation and provision of burial plots in the cemetery. All enquiries should be made to the Clerk.
